Ski area Alta Badia
The Alta Badia ski resort, considered one of the best in the world, is positioned inside the ski domain Dolomiti Superski and the Sellaronda track. It is surrounded by some of the most imposing peaks of the Dolomites, as the Sassongher and the Sella group.
Besides the large and sunny slopes, which allow skiing at its purest form, Alta Badia is a popular destination also thanks to its trendy mountain huts and its warm atmosphere. The mix of excellent cuisine and exciting winter sports offers the perfect attraction for those who want to enjoy an alternative holiday on the snow and makes this area the ideal location for several international events.
The Alta Badia ski resort stretches over 6 renowned resorts: San Cassiano, Corvara, La Valle, Pedraces, Colfosco and La Villa, placed in the heart of an amazing ski domain, featuring different kinds of slopes. From the easy runs for beginners and children to the medium and demanding ones, such as the famous Vallon in Corvara and the Gran Risa in La Villa, which hosts every year the popular FIS Alpine Ski World Cup Men’s Slalom.
The ski runs are always well-prepared thanks to the staff which gets them ready in the evening, and they feature modern and welcoming lift facilities. 88 km of slopes ready for exciting descents thanks to the excellent snowmaking equipment. Moreover, the Dolomiti Superski network allows you to move along 500 km of linked ski runs. Since a couple of years there’s also a free shuttle service to the ski area Plan de Corones.
The perfect central position of the Alta Badia ski resort makes it an ideal starting point for several ski tours, examples are the First World War ski tour, the tour to Mount Lagazuoi or those to the nature reserves, the Sellaronda and the gourmet ski tour. There are also numerous attractions for freeriders, as the descent from Passo Valparola to Armentarola or the Sellaronda Skimarathon track, and for snowboarders thanks to the Snowboard Park Alta Badia at Piz Sorega and the Drop in Freestyle Days, which is held in January.
Cross country ski lovers will find outstanding trails for classic and also for skate skiing in the two cross country centers of San Cassiano-Armentarola and Corvara-Colfosco, as well as important sport events like FIS OPA Continental Cup and Italian Cup.
Children will have a lot of fun in the Kids Fun Park of Piz La Ila – La Villa, featuring Indian tents, slides and rubber dinghies, and in the three ski kindergartens of La Villa, Pedraces and Corvara.
Not only skiing
Winter in Alta Badia is about much more than only skiing. Local food and specialties play an important role in the excellent restaurants of Alta Badia, most of all those who take part in the initiative “A taste for skiing” which promotes meetings and interesting events related to local haute cuisine. Those who like sports can choose between Nordic walking along 80 km of prepared trails, sledding, horse riding, walking tours with alpine guides, ice skating, ice climbing and snowshoe hiking. The evenings in Alta Badia are in the sign of Après Ski events and nightlife.
