Ski area Val d'Isarco: Maranza - Valles - Plose
Valle Isarco is one of the main ski resorts of South Tyrol. Stretching between the tourist towns of Barbiano and Fortezza, it comprises three modern ski centers and is included in the Dolomiti Superski. The resort features excellent facilities for children, state of the art lift facilities, sunny slopes, good snowmaking capabilities and cozy chalets and refuges.
Gitschberg – Maranza
The ski center Gitschberg – Maranza is also called the sun terrace of Valle Isarco, one of the sunniest destinations of the whole region. Elevation is 1,400 m at the base and 2,500 at the summit, the ski runs, served by modern lift facilities, are wide and cater to all ability levels, here in fact you find both the easy blue ones and the challenging black ones.
A nice alternative to skiing and a lot of fun is sledding. Here you have many slopes to choose from, one of which is a good 5 km long and another one, 1.8 km long, taking directly to the town center.
Since ski season 2011/2012 this ski resort is connected to the one of Valles, thus creating a new and modern ski center called Gitschberg – Jochtal.
Jochtal – Valles
Valles is the perfect destination for a snow holiday with your family. It features a lot of facilities for children, like the beautiful ski kindergarten with snowboard park Bambino Club, where small guests can spend pleasant hours playing with the snow.
Winter sport enthusiasts will be spoilt for choice, since the modern lift facilities will take you to 21 km slopes that cater to all ability levels.
Jochtal – Valles, connected since winter 2011/2012 to the ski center Gitschberg – Maranza, offers to all cross-country skiers a variety of trails: the 8 km long trail starting from the lower cableway station in Valles is perfect for families; whereas if you like to explore silent and snowy landscapes far from crowded slopes you can try the charming medium difficulty, 15 km long trail starting in malga Rodengo.
Plose – Bressanone
Plose is a ski center a few km away from Bressanone, and is one of the most charming of the Dolomiti Superski ski domain. It features 9 modern lift facilities connecting 43 km slopes of different levels and perfectly groomed. The resort features the famous Trametsch, the longest in South Tyrol. With its 9 km and a 1,400 m drop, it offers a thrilling descent, and a wonderful view on the Dolomites.
Snowboarders can try their tricks in the first Italian snowboard park, the Funpark Plose. But here you can do many other activities besides skiing and snowboarding: sledding, snowshoeing and ice skating.
