Ski area Val Senales
The Val Senales valley, rich in old traditions and alpine cultures, is a small ski domain which guarantees all year round gorgeous snow, just a few km away from Merano. Situated far from the most busy areas of the Dolomites, this valley is a real paradise for sports enthusiasts.
Val Senales is an ideal ski resort even for beginners as for experienced skiers thanks to 35 km of slopes, all linked through 12 lift facilities. The cableway starting from Maso Corto lets you reach the glacier at 3200 m in just a few minutes and allows to practice summer skiing in South Tyrol: a unique and memorable experience one should enjoy at least once in a lifetime!
Val Senales is a renowned location even for snowboarders thanks to the ski runs featuring various levels of difficulty. And that’s not all: the glacier also hosts the Gentlemenriders Nitro Snowboard Park, a freestyler paradise, open all year round.
On the top of the glacier you can also find several cross country skiing trails and amazing ski mountaineering itineraries. If you prefer relaxing walking tours instead of adventurous descents you can choose among various walking itineraries or snowshoe hiking tracks which will bring you to one of the traditional alpine farmhouses or mountain hut. Once here, you can enjoy a delicious snack surrounded by enchanting snow-capped woods.
Archaeology enthusiasts should visit the Ötzi memorial, the place where the well-preserved mummy of the Similaun Man was found, and the Archeo Parc in Madonna di Senales, dedicated to this man who lived about 3,300 BCE.
Kids will have a lot of fun in Val Senales thanks to the ÖtziLino kindergarten. Here they can play on the snow and build up a snow man, always being looked after by experienced and qualified animators. The younger ones, which would like to learn skiing, can enjoy the training camp in Maso Corto, which features Indian tents, an ice cave and patient instructors.
