Alpe di Siusi - Seiser alm
The Alpe di Siusi/Seiser Alm is a plateau which lies in the western part of the Dolomites on an area of about 52 square kilometres and an average altitude between 1800 and 2100 metres, surrounded by the suggestive peaks of the Sasso Lungo Group, the Denti and Cime di Terrarossa, the Sciliar, the Bullaccia and Monte Piz.
This region - which fascinates for the harmony of the surrounding breathtaking panorama and the thousand legends and the witch hunting stories that took place here - represents an irresistible call, both in winter and in summer, to all the lovers of the mountain, from the climbers to the skiers and the simple tourists.
During the hot season, indeed, more than 350 km of paths and itineraries with different levels of difficulty, wind among the green of meadows and woods spotted with about 500 mountain huts in the Ladin style.
In winter, on the contrary, snow turns the slopes into excellent ski runs where to practice alpine and Nordic skiing, served by the 24 modern lifts of the ski area Alpe di Siusi.
At the foot of the Alpe di Siusi, lies Siusi/Seis, the village celebrated in the medieval poems by Oswald von Wolkenstein, and which, between the XIX and XX century, developed so much that it became a much renowned tourist resort. In this sunny town, protected from the winds, indeed, kings and other prestigious people, such as the King Friederick August from Sassony, Arturo Toscanini and the Russian aristocracy, spend here their holidays.
