If you are looking for a place where sport, relaxation and fun never end, come to Alta Pusteria, you won’t be disappointed!

Surrounded by the pale mountains, that is the Dolomites of Sesto and Braies with the famous Tre Cime di Lavaredo, lies Alta Pusteria. With its unique landscape made of snowy peaks and lush woods, Alta Pusteria is a world awaiting to be discovered through the many trekking and mountain biking trails, climbing routes and Haute Routes.

In summer in fact this area is a favorite destination for trekkers, Nordic walkers and climbers, but also for all those who want to simply relax in the nature. Mountain bike lovers have at their disposal the cycle track from Dobbiaco to Lienz and the one from Dobbiaco to Cortina. Children can have a lot of fun too, with the many playgrounds and activities organized especially for them.

In the winter season Alta Pusteria offers to all sport lovers as much as seven ski centers, one cross-country center, sledding slopes, snowshoeing routes and warm, cozy mountain huts where you can relax and enjoy the snowy landscape.

Alta Pusteria hosts many interesting events all year round: the Gustav Mahler Music Weeks, the Baloonfestival, the Dobbiaco Cross-country Ski Race, the Tre Cime Alpin footrace, and the Sudtirol Dolomiti Superbike. Museums, castles and even the old alleys hide an incredibly rich cultural and historical treasure.

Giro delle Cime

The “Giro delle Cime” ski route in Alta Pusteria runs for 30 km among Monte Elmo, Croda Rossa, the Monte Croce Pass and the ski resort of Val Comelico. Following this long route you can enjoy some of the best ski runs of the area, and a shuttle service takes you from one section to the other.

Dolomythos Museum

In the center of San Candido lies the biggest museum of the Dolomites, the Dolomythos. On display, treasures, discoveries and rarities coming from the mountains inscribed in 2009 by UNESCO in the list of World Heritage Sites.

The Museum Dolomythos in San Candido was founded in 1995 by Michael Wachtler, nature enthusiast and archeologist, author of many books and expert of the Dolomites. During the years this small museum of Alta Pusteria turned into a big and important research center on the world of mountains.
