Castelbello/Kastelbell
An enchanting landscape: on the first side the shady and thick wood of Monte di Tramontana/Norderberg, on the other side the sunlit Monte di Sole/Sonnberg with its fauna and floricultural treasures; from the nice vineyards to the high peaks and mountain lakes. From the vineyard to the glacier... two contrasting aspects of the same fascinating area.
In this valley, blessed by nature, where the climate is mild and not very rainy, ripen the grapes that will give an unmistakable taste to excellent wines, juicy apples, apricots and chestnuts, while the sandy ground of the Adige plain bear delicious asparagus.
Castelbello is an ideal starting point for easy hikes, excursions, sport and entertaining activities. The nicest paths wind along the old ditches, the so-called Waalwege. One of the longest ditches is the Val Senales one, that brings pure water from Val Senales to Ciardes and Castelbello and further afield, from time immemorial. The path goes through vineyards and orchards that remind the mediterranean flora, and reaches the famous Castle Juval. Besides it is a wonderful castle, this manor ought its name to the owner, extreme climber Reinhold Messner, who has decided to live here.
Moreover, the lovers of mountain bike and bicycle can choose among many safe cycling tracks, thanks to a 150-km-long net of well-marked trails. You can also go in for summer skiing on the Val Senales glacier, situated nearby.
In this paradise one spends relaxing holidays, immersed in the past, enjoying modern comfort … culture, sport and great fun for the whole family!
