Colle Isarco/Gossensass

Colle Isarco, the ancient healing town of Tyrol, lies three kilometres north of Vipiteno/Sterzing.
Surrounded by the undiscussed charm of the mountains in the Upper Isarco Valley/Wipptal, this town has much to offer to its visitors.
During the Middle Ages, in the village a flourishing mine industry developed thanks to the many silver mines in Fleres and Vallming.
Thanks to the reached wealth, in 1510, the miners in Colle Isarco, built a chapel dedicated to their protector Santa Barbara. Nowadays it is still possible to admire the beautiful triptych of the XVI century, which sums up gothic and renaissance elements.
At the beginning of the XIX century, the town became a renowned healing resort, crowded by many tourists, famous and not, such as the writer Henrik Ibsen or the geologist Dolomieu.
Nowadays, attractions in Colle Isarco are many, starting from the well-known and crowded market in Passo del Brennero.
The lovers of art, besides the chapel of Santa Barbara and the beautiful Parish Church, can also visit the interesting Museum Ibsen in the town hall.
The sportsmen, on the contrary, have at their disposal the fresh woods and the suggestive valleys in the outskirts of the village, where they can find infinite occasions for trekking, excursions and climbing. Lifts lead to 1700 metres, allowing mountaineers to the Tribulaun and the Vedrette del Montarso/Feuerstein.
In Fleres di Dentro, it is also possible to admire the waterfall "All'inferno", a spectacular waterfall of 46 metres which springs out of a rock.
All those who do not want to face the mountains, but cannot renounce to sport, can keep feet in the many facilities in Colle Isarco where it is possible to play tennis, go swimming or play bowling.
In winter, the valley turns into a little white paradise always perfectly covered with snow, friendly and familiar. The ski area Ladurns-Colle Isarco, offers, indeed, unforgettable moments on teh ski runs.
