Naz-Sciaves
Naz and its nice hamlets are situated in a quiet and sublime position at about 800 m. asl, on the sunny apple-plateau Naz-Sciaves – in Valle Isarco, just a few km from Bressanone. Two rivers, the Isarco and Rienza, along with a temperate climate with more than 300 days of sunshine a year, feature the best conditions for the fruit and wine growing: here different apple varieties, such as the Golden Delicious, the Jonathan, etc. are grown - while on the south slopes you find beautiful vineyards, in particular the excellent white grapes "Müller Thurgau" and "Sylvaner". The area, spotted with old farmhouses, little churches and houses with balconies full of flowers, could maintain its farming character and old traditions. Here the visitors can enjoy a warm hospitality and try many local specialities, for example the South Tyrolean Jause (small meal), besides delicious apple desserts, above all the famous strudel.
The tourist and leisure offer is really rich: this tableland offers unforgettable holidays all the year round. In summertime a net of well marked trails await the lovers of trekking, while in winter you can choose among wonderfully snow-covered ski areas, the nearest are the Plose, Jochtal and Gitschberg ones. You will be surprised at the rich entertainment programme. Among the most known highlights we mention Royal Festival in spring, the Apple week and the famous "Törggelen", a funny feast with roast chestnuts and new wine. You are for choice … have a nice holiday!
