Parcines, Rablà e Tel
The three villages of Parcines, Rablà and Tel lies few kilometres far from the well-known Merano, at the beginning of Val Venosta and they are surrounded by wonderful orchards, at the foot of the Mount Rosso Peak, which with its 3336 metres is the highest point in the town council, and by the majestic mountains of the Tessa Group.
The beauty of the genuine natural landscape, the meeting of different cultures and the mild climate have, since always, determined the charm of the area.
The tracks of the first human settlements are dated back to the raethic period and they have been found in Golderskofel. In 46 A.D., in the Roman period, the Roman route Via Claudia Augusta Altinate passed near Tel. The first written documents, however, are dated 1067. Indeed, in the medieval period in Parcines the Von Partschins castle towered the area.
Nowadays Parcines, Rablà and Tel are the ideal destination for all those who wish to spend their holiday in the name of relax and nature. The three hamlets are a true paradise for the excursionists with more than 240 kilometres of paths and routes among the meadows and along the irrigation canals, as far as the old maso which lie upon green sunny terraces, or to the wonderful waterfall of Parcines: with its 97 metres it is the highest in the whole Alto Adige.
Who prefers to make a "journey back to ancient times", has at his disposal the beautiful parish church of the Saints Peter and Paul in Parcines, built in the gothic style, the church of Saint James in Rablà dated 1513 and the church of Saint Elena in Tel with a wonderful crucifix of the XVI century.
Another interesting place is the Typewriting Machine Museum in Parcines, the birthplace of its inventor: Peter Mitterhofer. The museum, built in 1998, on the 100th anniversary of the death of Mr Mitterhofer, collects more than 1200 objects and offers a wide historical frame of the development of the typewriting machine from 1864 - when it was invented - till 198
