Passo Resia
The Resia Pass/Reschenscheideck (1525 m) is the pass that marks the boundary with Austria and represents the main watershed in the alpine chain along the Austrian-Italian border. The pass is considered the limit between Central and Eastern Alps and links Val Venosta to Tyrol.
The hamlet of Resia/Retschen lies at the foot of the homonymous pass and is surrounded by the wonderful breathtaking landscapes that, on the right, look at the glaciers and, on the left, look at the peaks (often over 3000 m) between Italy and Switzerland.
You can get to the pass along the road that skirts two lakes, the natural one of San Valentino and the artificial one of Resia. Indeed the ancient bell tower of the XIV century, that rises from the waters of the lake, is evidence of the "sacrifice" of the village of Curon Venosta/Graun im Vinschgau, flooded to built the dam.
Place of many suggestive summer excursions, in the winter season the Resia Pass is a true paradise for the skiers of all levels. Where Austria, Switzerland and Italy meet it is possible o ski along 110 km of tracks, served by 30 lifts, or to practise cross-country ski along the tracks that lap at the icy lakes, which seem like pearls among the mountains.
