Plan de Corones - Val Pusteria
Woods and lawns speckled with farmsteads: these are the recollections that remain
in the heart and an the eyes. Val Pusteria is a green valley and its historical
centre, Brunico, is one of the principal tourist resorts of the Dolomites, dominated
in the north by the Tures Valley and in the south by Plan de Corones.
The villages and farms north of Brunico are very suggestive. In San Lorenzo a
curiosity is the Leiter Mill, a watermill on the stream Gadera. Numerous
are the castles that give the whole zone a magic atmosphere.
In winter Val Pusteria is plunged into a setting of leading ski runs and lifts:
we are speaking of Plan de Corones/Kronplatz, a skiing area which
belongs to Dolomiti Superski and which is characterised by the famous "panettone".
Here you can ski 150 days a year!
Not to miss, at the end of October, is the popular Stegona Fair: a lot
of purchase opportunities at the biggest Tyrolese fair.
