San Vigilio di Marebbe/St. Vigil in Enneberg
Also called “Plan de Mareo”, where Plan means “private bowl”, San Vigilio di Marebbe (1.201m) lies just in a bowl surrounded by particular rocky shapes.
In the zone you can admire the characteristic viles, little agglomerates of homesteads that form real independent "minivillages". The most characteristic viles are in Ciaseles, reachable starting from Piave, Biei Defora, a single farmstead with gothig architecture and the nice Biei Déte.
San Vigilio di Marebbe is an ideal starting point for walks and excursions in the nature, since it close to the wonderful Natural Park Frenes-Sennes-Bràies, extraordinarily rich in green lawns and expanses of conifers.
With a 100% Ladin population, this is the land of the "jodel", the typical musical trill of the inhabitants of Alto Adige, of the "strudel" and of the delicious "krapfen".
The month of July is dedicated to the wood, one of the raw materials of the area that since centuries constitutes an unavoidable element of mountain life.
