Scena/Schenna

Along the south western slope, 5 km far from Merano the territory of Scena lies.
Thanks to its wonderful position Scena is one of the most sunny villages in Merano valley, so that vineyards grows at 500 m above the sea level, whereas the orchards extends as far as 1000 m. Beyond this altitude, as far as 2000 metres there are the fir woods and then wide pastures and meadows. Each season of the year offer good reasons for visiting Scena. In spring, during the blossoming period, you can enjoy the mild climate. In summer the many swimming pools of the hotels and the panoramic public swimming pool are there for your fun. In autumn, with all its colours, grapes and chestnuts are harvested. The new wine, the so called "Suser", and the delicious gastronomic specialities of Alto Adige express the typical hospitality of Scena.
The shining sun and the mild climate are only one of the characteristics which make Scena a much appreciated tourist resort where to spend your time, to relax or to practise any sport. There are in fact many facilities, such as swimming pools, tennis courts, minigolf, playground for children, a soccer field and an ice-skating rink.
The lovers of nature have 65 km of walks and itineraries at their disposal. Moreover they can practise horse riding, fishing, canoeing and, buying the Schenna Card (validity 10 days), use the different lifts at a very special price
Scena is a tourist resort full of history: among the monuments and the interesting places there are, with no doubts, the castle of Scena, the Mausoleum of the Archduke Giovanni, which is one of the youngest and one of the best monuments in the neo-gothic style, the ancient parish church of Maria Assunta and the church of Saint George, in Romanesque style with the particular circle plant and the artistic gothic triptych.
