Silandro
Silandro, the chief town of Val Venosta, thanks to its central position and the mild and dry climate, is the ideal starting point for walks and excursions all the year long. There is a wide range of possibilities, from the regenerating walks along the ancient irrigation canals to the more binding excursions to the peaks all around.
The bell tower of the parish church of S. Maria Assunta is not only the symbol of Silandro, but also the highest in Alto Adige.
This hamlet, among wonderful orchards, is protected from one side of the valley by the thick woods of Mount Tramontana and from the other slope by Mount Sole, with its chestnut woods and the vineyards. These contrasts make the nature at the foot of the mountain particularly charming. It does not matter whether you are looking for relax or action, Silandro can satisfy both. You can enjoy having a quiet walk along the “rogge” (the ancient irrigation canals) or among the wonderful orchards, make a more binding excursion at higher altitudes or simply go cycling.
In winter snow is always present in the skiing resorts of Val Venosta and Silandro offers the opportunity of choosing among steep and binding slopes or sweet and long slopes.
