Sluderno
The Val Venosta extends on a splendid tableland, characterized by medieval fortresses, romantic villages and an uncontaminated landscape. Here you find Sluderno, a little village situated at the foot of Mt. Sole, in a sunny place, sheltered from the winds. The walls of the houses are covered with vines, while Castel Coira, seat of the Earl Von Trapp, towers over the scenery; the castle is still popular with several visitors, thanks to its well-kept armoury.
The outskirts of Sluderno are an ideal excursion area: silent paths, flanked with brooks, lead to bright woods, green meadows and luxuriant orchards that extend in the valley reaching its highest slopes.
The over 100 ha. wide biotype is a little landscape gem. Many endangered species of flora and fauna live on this extended marshland. The lovers of sports can join the athletic courses or go in for target practice, paragliding and hang-gliding.
How exciting to climb the beautiful panoramic peaks on the Ortles with its glaciers and the Venosta Alps that tower Sluderno ... to discover unique art treasures, abbeys and castles wrapped in legend ... to enjoy the enchanting spring blossoming and the colourful autumn: indescribable emotions!
This area offers many hikes opportunity, expecially in summer, but also fantastic ski runs, fabulous cross-country rings, great fun in the snow for the whole family and several sport opportunities ... also in winter there is much to do!
The Val Venosta Museum, situated on the outskirts of Sluderno, is worth a visit: an interesting ethnographic collection that illustrates the thousands-of-years-old history of everyday life in Val Venosta.
