Alta Valle Isarco
Vipiteno, Campo di Trens, Racines, Val di Vizze and Colle Isarco are the most important municipalities in the Alta Val d’Isarco.
Vipiteno, the ancient town ruled by the Fuggers, surrounded by beautiful landscapes, is really enchanting: meadows and woods, alpine peaks and glaciers along with the uncontaminated nature constitute a precious frame to a town that is also rich in arts and architecture.
Colle Isarco was a stopping place for several kings and emperors during the Middle Ages. At the beginning of the last century it became an important resort. This is the ideal place for excursions and hikes in summer, a paradise for those who like skiing in winter.
The lovers of arts can visit St. Barbara’s Chapel and the Baroque cathedral.
The three Racines valleys, i.e. Val Ridanna, Val Racines and Val Giovo, are often mentioned as "the quiet valleys embraced by nature”: indeed there is no traffic, as all roads lead to and finish on the mountains.
In winter, visitors can choose among three modern skiareas: Racines – Giovo, Montecavallo/Rosskopf and Ladurns/Colle Isarco.
