Terento/Terenten

The town of Terento/Terenten lies at the entry of the Pusteria valley, on a sunny plateau and surrounded by wonderful views on the villages of the valley and on the farther Dolomites peaks.
Here nature is still unsullied and the climate is extremely pleasant thanks to the high mountains which surround the area and stop the passage of cold air. This peculiar climate condition gave the name to the "Route of Sun", the route which links the many villages of the valley.

The mild climate favoured the first settlements in the area, about 4000 years ago, as the tips of some spears dated back to that period testify.
Nowadays the village is a residential centre with typical South-Tyrolese houses.

Moreover, Terento is an excellent starting point for many journeys, excursions and climbing. Absolutely suggestive are the erosion pyramids, which took shape thanks to the water erosion phenomena, and the route of mills, which winds along the ancient streams where men built mills, still working and open to visits.

Other jewels you can admire before leaving Terento are the parish church, built in 1334, the cemetery, a typical example of Tyrolese cemetery and the silver fir shaped as a column between Terento and Falzes.

Terento offers several opportunities to the sportsmen who, in summer can have a lot of fun swimming, cycling, playing tennis, paragliding or making excursions and climbing to the surrounding mountains.
In winter, on the contrary the main attraction is represented by the skiing area Plan de Corones, where you can practise all the winter sports.
