Tires/Tiers
The little centre of Tires lies at 1020 metres above the sea level, in the heart of the Dolomites, and it is surrounded by the woods and the mountains of the Cationaccio/Rosengarten group.
True paradise for the excursionists, Tires is the ideal place for relaxing holidays.
There are many meadow expanses and trekking and mountain itineraries that, in winter, turn into white ski runs of the ski area Rosengarten-Latemar.
From the Rifugio Bergamo/Grasleiten, 2134 m, you can enjoy a unique sight on the northern slope of the Catinaccio/Rosengarten.
Besides the beauty of the landscape and the uncontaminated nature, Tires boasts many artistic evidences such as the late romanic church of San Cipriano with its wonderful frescoes on the eastern wall, dated XVII century, the baroque parish church of Saint George decorated by Karl Henrici at the end of 1700, or, again the ancient watermill, at the entry of the village, nowadays open to public.
Among the natural attractions the earth pyramids in Collepietra, a few distance from Tires, are certainly worth a mention.
