Bedollo di Piné

Situated in the northern part of the Piné plateau between 1072 and 1215 m above sea-level, Bedollo is made up of four areas. In this zone there are the Piazze and Buse small lakes, where in summer it is possible to sunbathe and swim. Numerous are the hotel structures ready to host the tourists that every year choose this destination to spend a holiday immersed in the green of nature.

The famous furnaces from the bronze age which have been found near Redebus Pass might be a sign of the fact that peoples had settled down here already in times past.

Agriculture is much developed and offers typical, sometimes very famous products. Among them, sauerkraut deserves a mention; it is sliced cabbage left 40 days in wooden casks for fermentation. It is usually served with polenta and sausages and can be considered one of the typical dishes of the area.

The stately S.Osvaldo Church is artistically and culturally very interesting: it is situated on a terraced steep rock supported by high stone walls. A bell-tower rises next to the church with its characteristic covering.

Local handicraft is mainly represented by big wicker baskets, wooden-shoes, ladders and puppets skilfuslly made by wood craftsmen.

Sport fans will have numerous chances to practice open-air activities. If in summer one can enjoy the several walking-, bike- and riding-tracks, in winter near Piazze Lake and Redebus Pass one can practice cross-country skiing.
