Campiglio and Val Rendena
A holiday in Campiglio and Val Rendena means social life and relaxation in a wild yet welcoming nature that won the hearts of Franz and Sissi.
Surrounded by the wonderful Brenta Dolomites and by the mountain groups of Adamello and Presanella, the Val Rendena valley, with Madonna di Campiglio and Pinzolo, stretches from the Campo Carlo Magno Pass to Tione, and is included in the nature reserve Parco Naturale delle Dolomiti di Brenta.
In winter this is the favorite destination for all those who want to enjoy sports and social life, since here fun on the snow is a guarantee: ski areas scattered among Madonna di Campiglio, Pinzolo and Carisolo and hosting international competitions such as the Ski World Cup, terrain parks, snowshoeing routes, ice skating rinks, ice climbing walls, and of course the lively après ski bars of Val Rendena, to end an exciting day on the snow with style.
With the arrival of the warmest months, Val Rendena and its secondary valleys, like the famous Val Genova, offer 450 km trekking trails of different levels, leading you to lakes, glaciers, and wonderful natural attractions such as the waterfalls of Vallesinella and Nardis. Pinzolo features a nice Nordic Walking center, whereas mountain bike lovers are spoilt for choice: 20 km cycle tracks, many trails (including the Dolomiti Brenta Bike Tour, expert and country routes), and the Bike Transalp race.
This wonderful territory was once under the Habsburg Empire of Franz Joseph and Sissi, who used to visit some of the most beautiful tourist destinations of Trentino: and in order to celebrate those glorious days, every year in February many villages host the Habsburg Carnival.
And if you want to learn more about local history, worth a visit is the museum Museo della Guerra Bianca Adamellina, dedicated to the First World War on the Adamello and housing documents, finds and pictures.
