Cavareno is a nice resort in Val di Non, a quiet oasis surrounded with woods and meadows, ideal destination for families, lovers of nature, trekking and winter sports.
This village boasts old origines: the first documents date back to 1200. The municipality includes the ancient surbubs Sovic, Splazuela, Bus and Ruch; in the second post-war period the residential and touristic quarters Ausiel and Larseti have been added.
The area is well-known as a hiking paradise: here the visitors find well-marked paths, easy cycle tracks and have the possibility of going in for horse-riding. The walk "dria al fos", which is so called because it runs over the old irrigation canal, is very interesting.
The sport enthusiasts can choose among indoor tennis courts, the modern tennis stadium, volleyball and basketball courts, fitness circuit. In winter, a chair lift is open at "Campi di Golf - Malga di Mezzavia" and the ski lift "Al Sant" complete the ski offer.
Do not miss the parish church S. Maria Maddalena (1869-1873), containing works by the artist Giambattista Lampi such as the altar-piece with the Saint and the Via Crucis. The small church dedicated to Saints Fabiano and Sebastiano, built in the 9.-16.th centuries, has a number of precious paintings. In August the inhabitants celebrate the so-called Charta della Regola della Villa di Cavareno, a commemoration that recalls their old usages and customs.
