The Maddalene chain, situated in the high Val di Non, is a peaceful oasis, a paradise for the lovers of trekking. Bounded by Val d'Ultimo in the north, Passo Palade in the east, Valle di Non and Val di Sole in the south, Passo di Rabbi in the west, these mountains feature unusual morphological specifications: their peaks seldom exceed 2700 m. in height, there are no glaciers and the landscape includes gentle slopes and wide pastures, that in spring and summer are covered with wild flowers. You can easily reach the Maddalene from Rumo and Bresimo. This area in the past was an emigrants' land and up to now has not been subject to mass tourism – as a result, nature is unpolluted. The visitors can choose among many itineraries on well-marked paths, enjoy breathtaking views and observe the rich flora.
The toponym Rumo does not refer to a village, but to the whole valley in which Marcena is the municipality, including the hamlets Corte Inferiore, Corte Superiore, Lanza, Mocenigo, Marcena, Mione. The brook Lavazzè flows through the valley, that is different from Val di Non in landscape and architecture. Its partial geographic isolation determined these peculiarities. Nowadays in the hamlets you can still notice evidence of the past wealth and appreciate a great artistic heritage: beautiful house portals with coat of arms, frescoed façades, votive capitals dating back to the plagues in the 17. century. Do not miss the church in Corte Inferiore, with frescoed by the Baschenis.
