Ski area Mendola Pass
Mendola is the main mountain pass of the Val di Non valley and connects the Trentino region with the Wine Route in South Tyrol. This quiet ski resort is located at the feet of Monte Penegal and Monte Roen. With its dramatic natural backdrop and rich historical background, the Mendola Pass was in the past a favorite tourist destination for the Habsburgs and for the Central European aristocracy, and is still today an important resort both in winter and in summer.
The slopes of Predaia, Ruffrè and those on the Mendola Pass are perfect for downhill skiers and are provided with a modern snowmaking system. If you want to try the exciting experience of nighttime skiing, you have the floodlit slopes of Ruffrè and Predaia, and if on the other side you prefer cross-country skiing, there is the Regole di Malosco center at the feet of Monte Penegal, with its 10 km trails winding in a breathtaking natural landscape.
The ski kindergarten Funny Park Nevelandia with toys and slopes for snow tubing and sledding is a lot of fun for all children, whereas for beginners and for those who want to improve their techniques there is the ski and snowboard school.
There are many other activities besides skiing you can enjoy on the Mendola Pass, like snowshoeing, horse-drawn sleigh tours, and ice skating on the wonderful frozen lake Lago Smeraldo.
The resort hosts an important sports event in January: the Ciaspolada, an international snowshoeing race taking place from Romeno to Fondo, on an 8 km long route.
